Concern India’s initiative that unlocked the fundraising potential of champions of change

Fit4Concern was an initiative launched in 2020 to raise funds for COVID relief work by Concern India Foundation. The first campaign was 7 days long and curated by a group of fitness experts who recorded a special one hour long program for each day to engage with the supporters of the initiative.

For the 2021 edition, Kabir Diwanji, a young student from Mumbai and avid marathon enthusiast, wanted to combine his passion for running with supporting covid relief work. After seeing the devastation caused by coronavirus, he joined hands with Concern India Foundation to make a difference.

Over the 6-week-long campaign, he encouraged friends, family and colleagues to commit to completing any of the 'marathon' categories in their bid to raise funds for the work Concern India is doing to equip primary health centres in Maharashtra as the first point of health service to rural communities.

One supporter’s enthusiasm garnered the support of his family, including his grandfather, his class and school mates, children from schools all over Mumbai and Delhi and other family and friends. The event has now seen over 30 runners raising around 5.4 lakh rupees in total.

“Fit4Concern was initiated with the intent to engage with communities of people wanting to help; putting their passion for exercise towards a cause”, says Manisha Desai, Director of Concern India Foundation. The team at Concern India identified a worthy cause and key campaigners to keep their community engaged and build the momentum.

They believe that personal connections make all the difference and it is important to encourage the younger generation who want to make a difference in whatever way possible.

We applaud our NGO partner, Concern India Foundation for unlocking the potential of the campaigners in their community to drive support for their meaningful work.
