Amidst all the 21st-generation chaos of everyday life, the team at The Psychoanalytic Therapy & Research Centre (PTRC) has been a beacon of hope for many in Mumbai for the past four decades providing essential care and comfort to those in need - a true testament to the invaluable role mental health professionals play in our society. The team of Psychoanalysts, and child analysts, have been providing support in various areas that affect a person's day-to-day functioning where emotional support is much needed. They are also actively involved in conducting programs in schools, colleges, and other public places to create awareness on the importance of mental health and how to manage emotional life in a better way.
The team of PTRC has been actively participating in marathons for years, which has been one of the fundamental ways they were fundraising; however, they have now started exploring retail giving through GIVE, to raise funds for their cause and are now able to put in efforts to enable fundraising more extensively. Additionally, a fundraiser named ‘Care Car’ has been set up by a group of four friends, all over the age of 60, who have fuelled their passion for driving this initiative of providing support towards mental health. Their recent fundraising attempts revolve around conducting lectures in schools, colleges, and talks with parents aiming to educate people on the signs to look for and how immediate support can be availed. Their work involves around one of the most vulnerable age groups of 9 to 14 years including thrust on Individual therapy, Young People’s Counseling Services, and Infant Mental Health which are few of the areas that they are exploring in.
They continue to acknowledge the efforts of their donors in making an impact and also reach out to potential donors and well-wishers by sending newsletters, explaining the importance of their work and the need to support the same. Despite the challenges they have faced in the last four decades, they have been able to reach out and meet with various people interested in their work. They are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives, even in a small way. No matter what hurdle comes across their aim and vision remain the same i.e. to create awareness of mental health and provide assistance to those in need. Their work is commendable, and their determination to improve the lives of individuals suffering from emotional problems is inspiring.
