Har Hath Kalam India Association: Building Child-amiable Environment

Har Hath Kalam India Association, based in Patiala, strives to create a child-friendly society. They have collectively raised funds for two projects: Building Learning Centers in slums for 150 children and 50 young adults, and Providing a day-long Exploration Trip to a forest, a dairy farm, a newspaper printing press, the science city for 50 children.

Although the organization has a very strong funding base, their major reasoning for choosing crowdfunding is to enhance transparency and visibility.

With a concrete plan for the fundraising campaign, the organization focused on a targeted audience and definite timelines. They composed content according to the rapport with their donors. All the communications were done in advance and a continuous reach out was carried out keeping the month-end timelines in mind. The team adopted the 'peer-to-peer fundraising' strategy with highly effective personalized gratitude texts sent out to the donors within an hour's time of their donations. The campaign was quite active on the social media platforms by means of sharing posts, progress stories, advocates, and influencers' appeal videos. At the same point in time, constant Whatsapp communication was a boon and showed excellent results. Such personal reach outs and active involvement of the team members also helped in creating a strong impact.

Having received a recommendation from one of their fellow organizations, they chose GiveIndia for its prompt support. GiveIndia’s matching incentive further encouraged them to boost their fundraising efforts to the peak. The interface also helped them in tracking progress and augmenting donor engagement. The organization strongly believes that donations and fundraising go hand in hand with trust and encourages its peers to bond with their supporters beyond just financial aspects.
