MCCIA envisioned the need to create Pune Platform for Covid Response which would bring together all stakeholders from the industry to supplement the needs of the government while fighting this pandemic. In their first online crowdfunding campaign, they have raised close to INR 2 crore towards their covid relief efforts. Here is what Mr Prashant Girbane, Director General, MCCIA has to say regarding the success of their fundraiser:
“Being an industry association, our biggest leverage in terms of fundraising was our wide network. Multiple people got together and made this initiative their own which helped us reach more people. We raised some money initially during the start of the pandemic and utilised those funds over the next 12 months and ensured to keep our donors informed about the usage of those funds. We used the work done during these 12 months as the pitch to raise more funds during the peak of the emergency. We kept thanking our donors profusely through social media and emails.”
The organisation’s advice to other NGOs fundraising during the peak of the covid emergency would be to leverage all existing networks, and constantly update donors about the utilisation of funds. They believe that the work speaks for itself and good donor communication is the most important tool to drive fundraising. We congratulate our partner on their exemplary work and wish them the very best in future fundraising efforts.
